Marina El Khawand
Digital Innovation for Accessible Healthcare
About
Marina founded Medonations when she was just 18, shortly after the explosion in the Port of Beirut in 2020 killed 220 people, injured 7,000 others and left over 300,000 people without a home. What began with a simple social media post to help one elderly woman get her medicine has grown into a global movement with collection points in more than 65 countries.
Work
Through Medonations, Marina and her team provide people with the medicines and healthcare support they need, having reached more than 25,000 beneficiaries so far. In 2022, she helped establish Lebanon’s first Free HealthTech Clinic , a space that uses digital tools and AI to make healthcare more accessible to everyone. The Clinic was officially launched in 2025 with full AI integrations. She also founded CuraLoop, a startup focused on recycling medical waste and transforming it into sustainable solutions. Marina combines technology, sustainability, and solidarity to ensure equitable healthcare access for all.
